Some of the history research group have been visiting Derbyshire Record Office and Lichfield Record Office in January and February under the guidance of Dr Simon Harris, who the project has appointed to write a report about the history of Whitle, its links to the parish of Sheen and to the manor of Alstonfield.
As not all of the group have been able make these visits and in some cases have only just joined the group, Elspeth thought that a newsletter would give everyone a flavour of what they had been doing so far, as well as sharing some of their thoughts about the visits.
Over the next week, leading up to the start of the survey on the 10th March, I will post a different contribution each day. It makes for fascinating reading…
