Professionals Day - 8 May 25

A workshop was held at Under Whitle Farm on 8 May 25 for professionals interested in the archaeology, history and pollen analysis.


The attendees included:

  • Dr. Tudur Davies - Environmental and Landscape Archaeological Consultant

  • Andrew Farmer - FiPL Farm adviser, Peak District National Park.

  • Dr Simon Harris - Freelance Academic Historian

  • Dr John Hunt – Honorary Research Fellow, Department of History, University of Birmingham

  • Angela & Richard Knisely Marpole - PDNP volunteers, surveying, excavating, photography including finds/pottery and photogrammetry.

  • Jeremy Lake – Heritage Consultant. Former Advisor for Historic England

  • Laura Pritchard - Environment Specialist (archaeology) Staffordshire

  • Dr Andrew Sargent - Lecturer in Medieval History, University of Keele

  • Dr Sue Stallibrass - Honorary Research Fellow, Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology, University of Liverpool

  • Natalie Ward - Senior Conservation Archaeologist, Peak District National Park


Dr. Ian Parker Heath presented an Introduction and Background to the project followed by The Under Whitle Bog: Analysis and Results presented by Dr. Tudur Davies.


There was an exhibition, site tour and a visit to the bog where the core was taken. The day ended with a discussion about possible future activities.


The day was a great success and TFIG would like to thank all the participants.
