Here /lieth the Body of / Hannah daughter of Thomas and El / Wardle was inter / March 17th 1728.
Birmingham and Midlands Staffordshire Genealogical& Heraldry Society study indicates that Thomas' wife was called Elizabeth and the inscription continues:
'also Hannah daughter / of the above / was interred / March 10th 1730 / also Elizabeth wife / of Thomas Wardle of Slate House was / interred October 6th /1768 aged 71 /years'
